Rilegno is the national non-profit consortium that coordinates and promotes collection, recovery and recycling of wooden packaging.

Rilegno is a member of Conai (National Packaging Consortium) and is responsible for ensuring that the objectives set by law for the overall recovery of post-consumer wooden packaging such as pallets, boxes, crates, cages and cable reels are achieved.

Rilegno guarantees the achievement of a series of objectives of national interest, in line with Goal 12 of the SDGs: “ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns”.

Some key data of Rilegno 2023:

• recycling is close to 65% of the amount placed on the market, more than double the target of 30% by 2030 confirmed by the new European Regulation (PPWR)
• the reuse data is also growing with 909 thousand tons of pallets regenerated and reintroduced on the market (over 70 million pallets)
• all this has an economic and environmental impact (equal to 1.8 million tons of CO₂ saved) that we can be proud of

In such area, an approximately   200 hectares plot of land, Sacchi Pallets has planted 55.000 Poplar trees that with their fast growth in fwew years will become a great green lung to re-forest a forestless territory and reinforce riversides and mountain sides.

And more, as CREA published in the past, the  plantation of  Poplars helps to capture air carbon by cumulating it in the epigeal and hypogeal biomass in the measure of right 25 t per hectar per year of CO2, playing by that a primary rule in the mitigation of the actual climatic change.  Practically, considering the plantation will last 10 years x 200 hectars x 25 t of CO2, then we obtain a clamorous result of 50.000 t of CO2 captured from atmosphere.

Once their growth is reached, treen will be cut to be processed as raw material for the production of pallets, but in the same moment a new plantation will be set in place of the gone.

Although it’s not the first time we were awarded on European top scale, this is widely the most appreciated because it comes  after a hard 2 years run to manage a great growing phase in terms of investments in estates and technology whilst at the same time we had to fight the lack of raw material, while accomplishing the demand of Customers upon usual timing and quality expected, Chep on top.

The expansions that we have taken place in recent months will allow us to improve the storage capacity of raw materials and pallets to meet the strong demand of Customers.

Currently, the production area extends over a surface of 135.000 sqm and represents the maximun extension achivied today.

New industrial buildings are planned for the next future.

One to produce pallets (about 5500 sqm), a second to protect pallets from the rain (about 4000 sqm), another to reuse waste timber.

All industrial buildings will be covered using photovoltaic panels to allow Sacchi Pallets the energy independence.

The kiln, installed in September 2021, inaugurated a new investment plan focused on enhancing processes and production capabilities which includes: the installation of automatic board loaders on the Sodeme Line, the replacement and extension of the current roof with a new one made of laminated wood, the installation of a new and larger silo and will culminate in 2025 with the installation of a new nailing line.

IT IS A LINE IN REPLACEMENT OF AN OLD ONE, ABLE TO DOUBLE THE PAST PRODUCTIONS PER SHIFT AND ABOVE ALL TO ASSURE THE RESPONDANCE OF  PALLETS TO THE HIGH QUALITY STANDARDS REQUIRED BY CUSTOMERS IN THE CURE OF COMPONENTS ALIGNMENT, IN THE PERFECTION OF NAILING, AND THE FINISMENT OF MARKINGS OF THE PALLETS IN OUTPUT.

2)      A ROBOTS SYSTEM  FOR THE CHARGE OF THE TOP-COMPONENTS OF THE PALLETS.
